Luminosity Gaming Welcomes Steel and Zakk
The North American esports organization Luminosity Gaming has announced roster changes in its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad: Lucas "steel" Lopes will replace Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes in the main roster. The team also says goodbye to Alessandro "Apoka" Marcucci, who used to be its coach. His position will be taken by Rafael "zakk" Fernandes.
The organization released the following statement regarding the changes:
"During the last several months we have quietly achieved respectable results, making the playoffs of both ECS and ESL seasons previously. We showcased our talent and potential to the world. As a team we felt that we were having a hard time evolving past our current state. The veteran combination of steel and zakk brings some much needed leadership and experience to a comparatively young and talented roster. Both steel and zak were apart of the previous major finalist team at Immortals and that experience will be invaluable to our team."
As mentioned in the statement, steel used to be part of the original Luminosity Gaming CS:GO roster, which was formed in 2015. In the 2016-2017 season he played with Immortals, and then joined Team Liquid. With Team Liquid the player managed to place first at cs_summit2, this victory granted the team $63,750 in prize money. Zakk is a former professional player, who switched to the coach position in 2016. Since then he has worked for Tempo Storm and Immortals as a coach. Both Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes and Alessandro "Apoka" Marcucci will join Não Tem Como, a Brazilian team consisting of Lincoln "fnx" Lau, Bruno "bit" Lima, João "felps" Vasconcellos and Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe.
