Team Liquid Defeated LGD Gaming to Become the Champions of StarLadder i-League Invitational 4

The minor tournament StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 4 has concluded with a confident victory of the reigning world champions Team Liquid over LGD Gaming.

The event was held on February 1-4 in Shanghai, it featured 8 teams from all over the world competing for $300,000 and 300 DPC Points. First, they were divided into two GSL groups with best-of-three series, then top two teams advanced to the playoffs. In the second stage the teams competed in a single-elimination bracket with best-of-three regular matches and best-of-five grand finals.

Both future finalists started their competition in the Group A, where Team Liquid placed first by defeating Infamous (2-0) and LGD (2-0), while the Chinese team managed to outplay compLexity Gaming (2-0), and after losing to Liquid they had to play with the Americans one again – the second match ended with the 2-1 score in LGD’s favour, granting them the slot in playoffs. In the semifinals Newbee lost to LGD (0-2), while Team Liquid defeated Mineski (2-0). The Grand Finals concluded with the 3-1 score in favour of Team Liquid, granting them their fourth champions title at a StarLadder event. Also, KuroKy was the first player in the history of Dota 2 to reach 1000 wins in the competitive play. It should be noted, that the second place at a minor tournament with $60,000 and 90 DPC Points should be a decent accomplishment for LGD, since the team completed its roster just a month ago.
