Space Soldiers Are the Champions of DreamHack Austin 2018
The Turkish team Space Soldiers became the champions of DreamHack Austin 2018 by defeating Rogue 2-1 in the grand finals of a $100,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event.
The event took place on June 1-3 at Austin Convention Center. First eight teams were seeded into two groups with GSL format, with top two teams from each group advancing to the single-elimination playoffs bracket.
Both Rogue and Space Soldiers advanced to the playoffs from Group B. In the playoffs Rogue defeated Fragsters (2-1), while Space Soldiers outplayed Heroic (2-0). In the grand finals the Turkish team managed to avenge their loss in the group stage, defeating their opponents 2-1 and receiving half of the prize pool – $50,000.
