Moscow to Host EPICENTER XL – a $1,000,000 Major Tournament

Epic Esports Events announced its plans to organize a major Dota 2 tournament with a $1,000,000 prize pool and 12 participating teams. The final stage will be held from April 27 to May 6 and will be preceded by regional qualifiers.

The organizers have already invited two teams – Team Liquid and Virtus.pro. Liquid are the two-time EPICENTER champions, while VP are the most powerful team in the region and share the second place in the Dota Pro Circuit rankings with Liquid, having 2700 qualification points each. At least one team will qualify from each of the following regions: North America, South America, Europe, CIS, Southeast Asia, China. The fate of the remaining 4 slots is unknown. The qualifiers will start from January 20, the final stage will begin on April 27 with the group stage and will continue on May 4 with the playoffs stage, which will be played at VTB Ice Palace sports arena before the live audience.

The previous EPICENTER event was held on August 6-14, 2017 at VTB Ice Palace in Moscow. Then the tournament’s line up consisted of ten teams which competed for their share of a $500,000 prize pool. In the Grand Finals Team Liquid defeated Evil Geniuses with the 3-1 score.
