Dota 2 Rolls Out Patch 7.40 with New Hero Largo
Dota 2 has received patch 7.40, which brings several major additions to the game. The update affects core mechanics, heroes, and items, while also introducing new content for players.
The highlight of the patch is the arrival of a new hero, the bard Largo. In addition, the developers have significantly reworked Lone Druid, Slark, and Treant Protector, changing their abilities and playstyles, which could influence the meta in the near future.
The update also introduces new neutral items, including Weighted Dice, Idol of Scree’auk, and Riftshadow Prism. At the same time, a number of older neutral items were removed from the game, such as Helm of the Undying, Sister’s Shroud, and Pyrrhic Cloak. Alongside this, balance adjustments were made to many heroes and items.
Beyond that, the developers updated the map, adjusted the pick and ban order in Captain’s Mode, and reworked the talent system — talents now require separate talent points instead of skill points. In addition to gameplay changes, Dota 2 has received a winter Collector’s Cache featuring new cosmetic sets.
The full list of changes is available on the official website.
Patch 7.40 is the first major update in more than six months, with the previous version, 7.39, having been released on May 23.
