ESL One Cologne 2020 NA: Team Liquid to Fight with Cloud9 for the Last Place in Playoffs

Yesterday in the last match of Group B at ESL One: Cologne 2020 – North America FURIA Esports defeated 100 Thieves with the 2-1 score, qualifying for the playoffs stage. Today Team Liquid will take on Cloud9 in the match for the final place in the playoffs.

Earlier the teams faced each other within the opening match – then Liquid came on top with the 2-1 score, with Cloud9 having an upper hand at Overpass (19:17) and Liquid winning at Vertigo (16:8) and Nuke (16:10). Later Team Liquid lost to Evil Geniuses (0-2), while Cloud9 managed to beat Triumph (2-1). The final match is scheduled to begin later today at 9:00 PM UK Time.

The playoffs stage will be follow a single-elimination bracket with semifinals being best-of-three and the grand finale being best-of-five. The winner of today’s series will face Chaos E.C. on August 27th, 9:00 PM, while Evil Geniuses will compete with FURIA Esports on August 28th, 9:00 PM. The grand finale will begin on August 29th, 9:00 PM – its winner will get $65,000 in prize money.

The group stage is also almost over in the European division as well, where Sprout, Complexity, Astralis and G2 Esports already qualified for playoffs.
