CWL Dallas: The First Event of the Call of Duty World League 2018
Few months ago Activision presented an updated format for the new 2018 season of Call of Duty World League. The first major event of the season starts in few days, with players competing not only for their share of a $200,000 prize pool, but also for the Pro Points.
CWL Dallas Open, the first major LAN event in the new season which is also the first event to be played at COD: WWII, will be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas from December 8-10. The tournament will consist of three stages: Open Bracket, Pool Party and Championship Bracket.
The Open Bracket will feature over 160 teams from all over the world competing in a double-elimination bracket with best-of-three series until the final winners and losers round, which will be best-of-five. Teams placed top 4 in the winner’s bracket will qualify to Pool Party, while top four from the losers bracket will make it to the Championship Bracket Losers Round 1.
16 teams were directly invited to the Pool Party based on their number of earned Pro Points, including 10 NA teams, 5 EU teams and one Asia-Pacific team. They will be joined by four teams qualifying from the open bracket. The teams will be seeded into four groups of five, in which they will play in a round-robin format with best-of-five series. Teams placed first and second in their groups will advance to the first round of the Championship Winners Bracket. The third-placed teams will be placed in round three of the Championship Losers Bracket. The teams placed fourth will make it to the second round of the Losers Bracket. The teams finished last in their groups will be placed on the first round of the Losers Bracket.
